Qualifications

As a Legal Counsel, you will work as part of a well-trained, high-performance In-House team which the wider business relies on when making strategic commercial decisions.

This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your exposure to a wide variety of commercial contracts, including technology, construction, procurement, and operational agreements.

You will be trusted to advise business stakeholders directly, review and negotiate high-value and complex contracts, and support a variety of commercial projects across the business.

The General Counsel considers mentorship and training as paramount. You will work closely with a team of top-quality lawyers with many years of experience in Private Practice and In-House, and who have a strong track record of developing talent and promoting from within.

What work will you do?

In this role, you will:

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts including procurement, services, construction, and technology agreements;
• Support the business on complex commercial transactions and projects;
• Advise on contract risk, obligations and structuring across operational functions;
• Assist in managing contract disputes and working with external counsel where required;
• Contribute to compliance initiatives and corporate governance processes; and
• Maintain and improve internal templates, policies, and legal resources.

What type of person will be successful?

• Admitted as a solicitor in Australia;
• 4–7 years PQE in commercial law, ideally with experience in contract negotiation and transactional work;
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, or technology contracts will be highly regarded;
• In-house experience is desirable but not essential;
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to work closely with non-legal stakeholders;
• Proactive, solution-focused and confident managing competing priorities.
