Job summary

The University of Melbourne invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in Gender Studies. The role focuses on Trans and Queer Studies scholarship, shaping curricula and advancing a research profile across disciplines, aligned with an inclusive School culture.

The successful candidate will coordinate undergraduate and honours subjects, develop inclusive curricula and contribute to externally funded research, while mentoring postgraduate students and engaging in institutional leadership.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Gender Studies or closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching and curriculum development.
  • Experience supervising honours and postgraduate theses; ability to lead multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver undergraduate and honours subjects in Gender Studies, including high-enrolment classes and team teaching.
  • Design inclusive curricula and technology‑enhanced learning resources for a diverse student cohort.
  • Undertake high‑quality research in Trans and Queer Studies with peer‑reviewed outputs and grant activity.
  • Supervise honours and postgraduate theses; contribute to research higher degree supervision.
  • Engage in leadership, committees, and external partnerships at national and international levels.
