The Discipline of Medical Imaging Science offers undergraduate and postgraduate Diagnostic Radiography programs and a Master of Medical Imaging Science with CT, MRI, Breast and Nuclear Medicine Hybrid Imaging specialisations. In 2021 we moved to the new Susan Wakil Health Building at the Camperdown campus and established new practical teaching spaces and equipment.

The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint Lecturer (Education focused- Level B) in Medical Imaging Science who are passionate about improving health outcomes and health equity in the local, national and global communities through medical imaging science. The incumbent will significantly contribute to teaching and learning practice, design, and evaluation within their Academic School, with a focus on coaching and developing students in providing best-practice patient care using a simulated or clinical setting.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Contribute to the discipline's outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes
• Apply current clinical knowledge and expertise to innovate teaching and learning
• Work as an effective team member and, as required, coordinate units of study
• Contribute to the education and administrative activities of the School
• Contribute to positive workplace culture within the School
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the discipline, Faculty and University
• Engage beyond the University with clinical and industry partners to the benefit of students and staff.

About you

• Significant recent clinical expertise across diagnostic radiography, including general X-ray and specialised modalities, e.g., CT, mobile imaging, and theatre radiography
• Significant experience working in a clinical setting and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform pedagogical practice (usually more than three years post accredited primary healthcare qualification)
• Experience supervising students in clinical placement or work integrated learning environments, including the assessment of clinical competence
• Experience and training in teaching and learning in a tertiary or healthcare environment, as evidenced by student coaching and skills development
• Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives with a clinical focus
• Demonstrated capacity to interact, stimulate, actively engage and educate students in the delivery of safe person-centred and evidence-based patient care
• Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with academic, clinical partners and other stakeholders
• A diagnostic radiographer registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) who holds a relevant NSW radiation EPA licence
• A relevant postgraduate qualification; a master's degree would be desirable
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, culturally safe and student-centred learning environments that support diverse student cohorts and promote equitable learning opportunities.
