Job description
About the position

A Level B teaching-focused academic is responsible for curriculum development, subject coordination, teaching, and scholarly activities in biochemistry, cell biology, or related fields, working independently. They contribute to their discipline locally and nationally, participate in professional activities, and are expected to demonstrate and maintain teaching excellence, as shown by student and peer feedback and other evidence-based measures.

Key teaching responsibilities
  • applying evidence-based approaches to develop and assess teaching initiatives;
  • contributing to the university’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning by sharing best practices;
  • coordinating and teaching subjects to ensure engaging, high-quality student experiences across various delivery modes;
  • providing constructive and timely student feedback;
  • participating in innovative curriculum design and review, especially for online and blended learning; and
  • prioritising the integration of employability skills into the curriculum.
Qualifications and experience
  • a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or closely aligned discipline;
  • demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and / or online modes, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards or through other forms of evidence;
  • evidence of innovative initiatives using cutting edge approaches undertaken in the last three years that have improved the student experience, and the evaluation of effectiveness of these initiatives;
  • demonstrated ability or potential to engage with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL);
