Job summary

Mercy College in Coburg, Melbourne, invites applications for an experienced Learning Support Officer to join the Learning Diversity Team on an ongoing, part-time basis (0.86 FTE). The role supports teachers and students to promote inclusive learning across Years 7–12 in a Catholic Girls' College.

The successful candidate will work 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, with duties including assisting with learning, supporting students with disabilities or learning needs, and monitoring progress

Qualifications

• Current Working with Children check.
• National Police Records Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in supporting the learning of students under the direction of the class teacher and Learning Diversity Leader.
• Work with individual students with disabilities, impairments and/or learning exceptionalities and across a range of learning areas.
• Maximise participation within the mainstream curriculum, promote inclusion, support achievement and monitor progress.
• Assist with the basic emotional, social and physical care of students with special needs as well as to encourage student to develop a sense of responsibility towards their own education.

We are seeking applications from experienced individuals to join our Learning Diversity Team on an ongoing basis (8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday). Part time applications may be considered.

The primary role of a Learning Support Officer is to:

• assist the teachers in supporting the learning of students. This support is provided under the direction of the class teacher and Learning Diversity Leader.
