About the Role

MacKillop College, Bathurst has an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Officer to join the team on a temporary basis in 2026. The role will be a part-time position where the hours may slightly vary based on students’ needs.

The Learning Support Officer will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction to students in a Catholic School setting. The role will involve:

  • Providing in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs
  • Supporting and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment
  • Facilitating the remedial reading program (MacqLit)
  • Assisting with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD)
  • Administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions
  • Input into the planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences
  • Applying appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment
About You

We are looking for someone who is able to address the following selection criteria:

  • The desire to engage with and contribute to a Catholic learning organisation
  • Experience and effectiveness as a Learning Support Officer, School Support Officer, Teacher’s Aide or equivalent
  • A capacity to work collegially and collaborate within a diverse team.
  • Sound communication and organisational skills, punctuality and adaptability.
  • Sound personal skills that include patience, understanding and perseverance
  • Characteristics that provide a positive role model to students at the College both in their professional and personal life.
  • Hold Certificate III in School Based Education Support or above, or be working towards a tertiary degree in education (completed, completing or enrolled)
