Job summary

Government schools in Bendigo seek a Learning Specialist to model excellence in teaching and learning and to lead curriculum initiatives within the college.

You will collaborate with the leadership team to align teaching, assessment and pathways into VCE, VET and VCAL, ensuring consistency across departments and supporting staff development.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching or eligible for registration.
• Qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.

Job description

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to whole school decision making and liaise with other members of the College leadership team to develop consistent strategic responses to school issues, reinforce the College purpose and values, implement agreed policies and procedures, involve staff in the leadership and management of the curriculum and develop the leadership capacity of self and others relating to curriculum implementation.
• Liaise with and support staff with the implementation of curriculum initiatives including the priority areas outlined in the College strategic plan and annual implementation plan.
• Lead the documentation and alignment of teaching and learning within the College including the implementation and preparation for pathways into VCE, VET and VCAL.
• Support CCT Leaders and work with Learning Specialists in the development of consistent curriculum documentation, consistent teaching practices, assessment, including exams, and resources.

What you need

• The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
• SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum, and implement school priorities.
