Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a capable supervisor to lead a team of technicians responsible for the repair, testing and maintenance of traffic management devices, high voltage systems, tunnel instrumentation and safety systems at Tweed Heads. The role requires leadership, field experience and a readiness to travel across the North Region.

You will mentor technicians, monitor fault records, and contribute to maintenance planning to ensure safe, reliable tunnel operations.

Qualifications

• Must hold NSW NSW Fair Trading Electrical Supervisors certificate or equivalent.
• Australian driver's license and willingness to travel.
• Experience in tunnel or industrial maintenance practices.
• Proven leadership experience, formal or informal.
• Willingness to participate in overtime-callouts and on-call roster.
• Experience collecting data from field equipment and calibrating/testing electronics.
• Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with troubleshooting ability.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:

• lead a team of technicians and sub-contractors to the repair, test, and maintain traffic management devices, power and electrical distribution (including High Voltage), tunnel instrumentation (including Hazardous Areas), ventilation and fire and life safety systems to ensure safe operation of tunnel assets.
• provide leadership to a group of traffic signal technicians, whilst maintaining a high degree of technical knowledge which you will use to develop and mentor your team
• monitor fault records and field repairs of equipment and provide guidance to the maintenance plans and fault patterns of assets.

This is a Full-Time Permanent position, working on the Tugun Bypass Tunnel based in Tweed Heads and will require regular travel throughout the North Region

About You

• Current NSW Fair Trading Electrical Supervisors certificate or equivalent
• Current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license and be willing to travel on occasion
• Knowledge and experience in tunnel or industrial maintenance practices.
• Leadership experience, whether informal or formal, is ideal
• Availability to assist in overtime-callouts (emergency situations) and be part of an on-call roster.
• Experience in undertaking data collection from field equipment.
• Experience in calibration or testing of electronic equipment.
• Experience in the management of electronic computerised maintenance management systems.
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and identify the nature of computer problems
• Have advanced communicate skills and experience working collaboratively with people at all levels to motivate and influence and build key relations with a wide range of clients and internal and external stakeholders.
• Be solutions-focussed and contribute to a positive workplace culture to inspire your team to deliver customer-centred projects
