Position Overview
As a Leading Hand, you will assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the daily operations of the Workshop and Workshop personnel including the co-ordination of maintenance activities to best support operations, whilst still playing a hands-on role with day-to-day activities.
Key Responsibilities
>Provide day to day leadership, supervision and mentoring for all team members.
- Monitor and undertake general repairs, maintenance and servicing to MLG plant and equipment.
- Provide sound instruction on how to perform technical tasks and assign duties as relevant.
- Review and ensure all work orders, time sheets, parts movement, and maintenance and servicing-related documentation are accurate.
- Schedule monthly/weekly stocktake of tyres, oil stock levels, fittings and consumables.
Maintenance Supervisor Overview
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating maintenance and repair activities for our fleet of heavy equipment. This challenging yet rewarding role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians and mechanics, ensuring safe and efficient workshop operations.
- Develop and execute maintenance schedules, prioritise repairs, and coordinate equipment availability.
- Ensure that all maintenance and repair work meets safety standards and quality expectations.
- Manage spare parts inventory, ordering, and restocking to minimize downtime.
- Enforce strict safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the workshop.
- Provide regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and workshop performance.
- Coach and mentor team members, identifying training needs and opportunities for skill enhancement.
Requirements
- Current & Valid Driver’s Licence (HR Preferred)
- Proven experience as a Workshop Leading Hand or Workshop Supervisor in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
- Trade qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician).
- Section 26 Certificate (required for Workshop Supervisor)
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- National Police Clearance (within 12 months – validity site dependant)
- $5 per hour site bonus, paid fortnightly.
- Super on ALL hours worked.
- Rosters - 2/1 and 8/6
