Job summary

Autonomy & Asset Management Group in Mackay is seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Hydraulic Cylinder Rebuild Technician to join a dedicated workshop team. The role focuses on Caterpillar cylinder reconditioning, inspection, repair and reassembly to OEM standards, with a small team to lead.

Ideal candidates will have a relevant trade qualification, extensive CAT cylinder experience and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification and extensive Caterpillar hydraulic cylinder reconditioning experience.
• Experience working with hydraulic and suspension cylinders is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with supervision of small teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and productive workshop environment.
• Dismantle hydraulic cylinders for inspection and repair assessment.
• Perform detailed inspections, reporting and failure analysis.
• Assess parts requirements using OEM software or equivalent systems.
• Identify improvements and provide recommendations.
• Reassemble and recondition cylinders to OEM specs and safety standards.
• Complete quality control and inspection documentation.
• Operate cylinder rebuild and hydraulic testing equipment.
• Lead and support a small team to complete scheduled work efficiently.

Leading Hand - Hydraulic Cylinder Rebuild Technician

Experienced Leading Hand Hydraulic Cylinder Technician required for Mackay based workshop

AAMG is seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Hydraulic Cylinder Rebuild Technician with extensive Caterpillar hydraulic cylinder reconditioning experience to join a specialised workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson looking for a full-time role with the opportunity to lead a small, highly skilled team.
The role primarily working on Caterpillar hydraulic and suspension cylinders, you will be responsible for the inspection, assessment, repair and reconditioning of hydraulic cylinders to OEM standards.
You will work as part of a dedicated team of cylinder technicians, with access to your own toolbox for personal tools, along with top-of-the-range measuring equipment and specialised tooling.
Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and actively contribute to a safe and productive work environment.
• Dismantle hydraulic cylinders for inspection and repair assessment.
• Complete detailed inspections, reporting and failure analysis.
• Assess parts requirements using OEM software or equivalent systems.
• Identify potential improvements and provide recommendations.
• Reassemble and recondition hydraulic cylinders in accordance with OEM specifications and safe work practices.
• Complete all required quality control and inspection documentation.
• Operate specialised cylinder rebuild and hydraulic testing equipment.
• Ensure all reconditioned cylinders meet quality standards and expectations for extended service life.
• Lead and support a small team to ensure scheduled work is completed efficiently and to the required quality standards.

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A relevant trade qualification.
• Extensive experience reconditioning Caterpillar hydraulic cylinders.
• Experience working with hydraulic and suspension cylinders.
• Strong leadership skills and experience supervising or leading small teams.
• Experience using OEM systems or equivalent software is desirable, but not essential.
• A current and valid driver's licence.
• A current Forklift Licence is desirable, but not essential.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
