Job summary

Encore Electrical & Data in Brisbane is seeking a Leading Hand Electrician to run crews on commercial and hospitality fit-outs, maintenance and projects. You will be the on-site contact, ensure safe, on-time delivery and quality workmanship.

The role requires a Queensland Electrical Worker Licence, supervisor experience, strong commercial experience in hospitality or retail, WHS compliance, and the ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

• A current Queensland Electrical Worker Licence (Electrician) held for at least 2+ years.
• Proven experience as a leading hand or supervisor, or a senior electrician ready to step up.
• Strong commercial experience; hospitality, retail or QSR fit-out experience is a plus.
• White Card and a current driver’s licence; good organisation and paperwork skills.
• Safety-first attitude with mentoring ability; Certificate IV in Electrical (Supervisor) is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead small teams on site, allocating tasks and coaching apprentices.
• Carry out and oversee commercial electrical installations, switchboards and data/CCTV cabling.
• Read drawings and specs, set out work to match the program.
• Run site WHS: SWMS, pre-starts, isolation and LOTO; ensure WHS system compliance.
• Complete QA documentation, ITPs, testing and commissioning records, handover to AS/NZS 3000/3017.
• Communicate with builders, store managers and office about progress, variations and issues.
• Fault-finding and fixing problems on live hospitality sites.

About us
Encore Electrical & Data is a Brisbane-based commercial electrical and data contractor with a team of 21 technicians. We look after maintenance, fit-outs and projects for some of Queensland’s best-known hospitality brands, including McDonald’s, KFC and Hungry Jack’s. Our work covers commercial electrical, data cabling, CCTV and security wiring, switchboards, catering equipment, and test and tag/thermal imaging. We’re growing, and we need an experienced Leading Hand to run crews on site and help keep the high standard across our jobs.

The role
You’ll lead small teams of electricians and apprentices on commercial fit-outs, refurbishments and maintenance work. You’ll be the main contact on site, keeping jobs safe, on time and done right the first time. The day-to-day includes:

Leading and supervising electricians and apprentices on site, including allocating tasks and coaching apprentices

Carrying out and overseeing commercial electrical installations, switchboard work, and data/CCTV cabling

Reading drawings and specs, and setting out work so it matches the program

Running site WHS: SWMS, pre-starts, isolation and LOTO, and making sure the team follows our WHS systems

Completing QA documentation, ITPs, testing and commissioning records, and handover paperwork to AS/NZS 3000 and 3017

Talking with builders, store managers and our office team about progress, variations and any issues

Fault-finding and fixing problems on live hospitality sites.

What you’ll bring

A current Queensland Electrical Worker Licence (Electrician), held for at least 2+ years

Proven experience as a leading hand or supervisor, or a senior electrician who’s ready to step up

Strong commercial experience. Hospitality, retail or QSR fit-out experience is a big plus

A sound understanding of AS/NZS 3000 and your testing and verification obligations

A White Card and a current driver’s licence

Good organisation, communication and paperwork skills

A safety-first attitude and the patience to mentor apprentices

Highly regarded: a Certificate IV in Electrical (Supervisor), data cabling (ACMA open) registration, thermal imaging experience, an EWP or working at heights ticket.
