Job summary

The Gables Veterinary Group is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinarian to join our small animal GP clinic and drive clinical excellence under new leadership.

You will combine hands-on care with leadership and mentorship, shaping how the clinic operates and supporting the veterinary team’s development. Prior Lead Vet experience is not required—experienced GPs ready for leadership are welcome.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in small animal general practice.
• Strong clinical skills across medical and surgical cases.
• Demonstrated leadership, guidance and mentorship capabilities.
• Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science and ACT Veterinary Practitioners Board registration.

Responsibilities

About the role

You’ll combine hands-on clinical work with leadership and mentorship, with the opportunity to influence how the clinic operates and support the development of the veterinary team.

You don’t need to have held a Lead Vet title previously — we’re interested in experienced veterinarians who are ready to step into leadership.

We’re looking for an experienced veterinarian who:

• Has 5+ years’ experience in small animal general practice
• Has strong clinical skills across medical and surgical cases
• Is confident providing leadership, guidance and mentorship
• Holds a Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science and is registered with the ACT Veterinary Practitioners Board
