Better Pet Vets in Mackay is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join a friendly, close-knit team for leave cover and growth opportunities. You will balance hands-on clinical work with mentoring and leadership across the GP veterinary team.

Seeking an experienced veterinarian with 5+ years in small animal practice, current Australian registration, and a passion for high patient care. You’ll influence standards, support staff development and contribute to the hospital’s ongoing success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in small animal general practice.
• Current veterinary registration in Australia.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical care across medical and surgical cases.
• Lead, mentor and support the GP veterinary team.
• Act as the line manager for GP veterinarians and support performance development.
• Contribute to training of nursing and animal attendant teams.
• Drive clinical standards and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to marketing plan development.
• Work with leadership to grow the hospital while staying hands-on.
