Job summary

DFP Recruitment is seeking an EL1 UX/UI Lead Designer for a Federal Government project in Australia. You will lead discovery, design, validation and implementation of user-centred digital services, guiding teams and governance around accessibility and design systems.

Key duties include mentoring designers, shaping strategy, and delivering end-to-end design outcomes across large-scale programs in a collaborative government setting.

EL1 UX/UI Lead Designer – Federal Government

Our Federal Government client is seeking experienced UX/UI Lead Designers to lead complex digital initiatives focused on improving customer, participant, provider and staff experiences across large-scale digital services. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving user-centred design outcomes across discovery, design, validation and implementation phases. You will provide expert UX/UI guidance, influence decision-making across multidisciplinary teams, and help shape the future of digital experience design, accessibility and service delivery practices. Working within a complex and collaborative environment, you will lead the resolution of user, business and technical challenges while contributing to design systems, governance frameworks, capability uplift and continuous improvement initiatives.
