Job summary

Perilya Limited is seeking an experienced Lead Mining Engineer to lead the mine planning function for the Broken Hill Operation in New South Wales. You will guide short-, medium-, and long-term plans, mentor planning engineers, and ensure designs meet MDG, PHMP, GCMP, and regulatory standards.

You will collaborate with operations, geology, and geotechnical teams to deliver practical, safe, and value-driven plans that support business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) – essential.
• Minimum 5+ years' experience in underground mine planning.
• Experience in hard rock underground mining – essential.
• Experience developing short, medium, and long-term mine plans.
• Strong understanding of underground mine design principles and planning processes.
• Sound knowledge of NSW mining legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence stakeholders across technical and operational teams.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of short, medium, and long-term mine plans.
• Coordinate life-of-mine planning activities and mine design optimisation initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Mine Planning Engineers and technical team members.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of mine planning standards and processes.
• Ensure mine designs and planning activities align with MDG, PHMP, GCMP, and NSW regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate planning reviews and contribute to technical decision-making processes.
• Work collaboratively with operations, geology, and geotechnical teams to ensure integrated planning outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to improve mine performance, productivity, and resource recovery.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
• Promote safe work practices and proactive risk management across technical services.
