Job summary

Redpath Mining in Appin Mine, Australia, is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Fitter to oversee maintenance of underground mobile equipment. You will lead a team of fitters on shift, ensure safe, efficient operations, and drive fault diagnosis and repairs in a demanding mining environment.

Applicants must hold a trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant and have extensive underground equipment experience, with prior supervisory exposure and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant (essential).
• Extensive experience maintaining underground mining equipment.
• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills.
• Ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced mining environment.
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work rotating rosters (e.g. 5/2 or site‑specific).

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of underground fitters on shift.
• Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Coordinate planned maintenance and breakdown response activities.
• Diagnose faults and ensure timely, quality repairs.
• Allocate work tasks and monitor team performance.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with site and statutory requirements.
• Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and workshop organisation.
• Liaise with supervisors and operations to minimise downtime.
• Promote strong safety culture and adherence to procedures.
