Job summary

JLE Group based in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Switchboard Electrician to join the Manufacturing & Hire division. You will assemble, wire, test, and commission switchboards and LV/MV systems in a stable workshop environment.

The role requires NSW Electrical Licence, Electrical Trade Qualification, and 7–12 years in the trade, with strong AS/NZS 3000 knowledge and WHS compliance. Opportunity for mentoring apprentices and career growth within Maas Group Holdings.

Qualifications

• NSW Electrical Licence holder.
• Electrical Trade Qualification.
• Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant industry standards.
• Experience in switchboard manufacturing.
• Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.
• Well-developed management skills such as planning, organising, and evaluation.
• Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
• 7–12 years' experience in the trade.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, wire, and fit-off electrical switchboards and distribution boards.
• Install components including breakers, relays, busbars, cabling systems, and protection devices.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings.
• Complete panel layout and internal wiring in line with design documentation.
• Conduct testing including continuity testing, insulation resistance (IR), functional and operational checks.
• Identify and rectify defects or non-conformances and assist with FAT and site commissioning where required.
• Complete QA documentation, ITPs, and test records.
• Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, AS/NZS 61439 Switchboard Standards.
• Maintain accurate redline drawings and as-built documentation.
• Follow all WHS procedures, SWMS, and safe work practices.
• Apply lockout/tagout and isolation procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
• Assist in process improvements and standardisation.
• Mentor apprentices and junior trades where required.
