Job summary

Cuscal is seeking a Lead Engineer in Australia to turn core banking needs into scalable technical solutions. You’ll work with Product Owners, Engineers and delivery squads to translate requirements into robust designs and roadmaps.

You’ll balance hands-on coding with strategic oversight, mentor engineers, review code and drive releases across security, performance and reliability. This role demands strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and a proven track record

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience with prior leadership roles.
• Domain knowledge in Payments, Settlements and Disputes.
• Experience in designing, building and delivering software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical solution design and delivery aligned with domain architecture strategies.
• Provide hands-on engineering support and help developers resolve challenges.
• Review code and ensure quality, security and engineering standards.
• Identify risks, dependencies and roadblocks and drive resolution.
• Embed development, testing and operations practices across the squad.
• Support root cause analysis, post-incident reviews and defect prioritisation.
• Lead release planning, change sequencing and technical delivery decisions.
• Contribute to strategic technical roadmaps with product and architecture teams.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation, standards and processes.
• Mentor engineers and uplift technical capability across the team.
