Lead Middle School Cheer Coach – Basketball

Job summary

EXVAL in partnership with Jones Middle School and Hastings Middle School seeks a 7th Grade Basketball CheerHead Coach to lead student athletes, build skill, and promote discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. You will coach sessions, organize practices, and coordinate with the Middle School Director of Student Life to support a positive athletic culture.

The role emphasizes safety, roster management, and effective communication with families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Prior successful experience working in a school setting or coaching student athletes is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques for individual and team achievement in cheer
• Establishes a fair and objective roster selection process and communicates decisions to students and guardians
• Plans practices and games in coordination with the Department of Student Life
• Ensures a certified coach is present at all cheer practices and games
• Maintains and cleans equipment and inventory and ensures proper storage and handling
• Coordinates with the Middle School Athletic Director and handles travel for events
• Interacts professionally with students, staff, families, coaches, and officials
