Job summary

Hypersonix Launch Systems in Melbourne, Australia, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead to own airframes, wings, internal structures and ground support equipment from concept through qualification.

This hands-on leadership role will mentor a team of engineers, review designs and analyses, drive manufacturing-friendly designs, and ensure rigorous engineering processes across the program. Relocation support is available for the Brisbane facility as the project progresses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • CPEng / RPEQ or clear path to obtaining it.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in mechanical systems design and simulation within aerospace or high-technology industry.
  • Track record of leading and developing a team of engineers.
  • Deep expertise in mechanical design and analysis, with simulations and analysis tools.
  • Experience with configuration management and PLM systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leading structural and mechanical integrity of hypersonic vehicles and ground systems - airframes, wings, actuators, mechanisms, internal structures and GSE.
  • Reviewing and approving mechanical designs and analysis for hypersonic vehicles and GSE.
  • Ensuring designs are manufacturable, reliable and FMEA-driven.
  • Adherence to engineering process and continuous improvement.
  • Day-to-day management, mentoring and technical development of the team.
  • Leading work package planning and resource allocation to match program schedules.
  • Contributing to new materials, technologies and structural methods.
  • Acting as the structures and mechanisms voice in design reviews, non-conformance investigations and failure analyses.
