Job summary

Capstone Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its Brisbane team, focusing on HVAC and building services design. You will lead projects from concept to delivery, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with a national multidisciplinary team.

You will manage client relationships, prepare fee proposals, and contribute to business growth while ensuring design quality and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Around 5+ years’ experience in building services (HVAC) design.
• An Australian recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant trade background.
• Professional registration such as CPEng, NER, RPEQ or a QBCC Designer Licence, or eligibility to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and relevant industry codes.
• Proficiency in Revit and CAD for design and documentation.
• A solid understanding of electrical, fire and hydraulic disciplines.
• Experience engaging directly with clients and project stakeholders.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A progressive mindset and a genuine passion for technical accuracy, teamwork and great client outcomes.
• Full working rights in Australia with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver mechanical design projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
• Prepare detailed design calculations and documentation for HVAC and building services solutions.
• Provide design certification and QA review in line with company policies and standards.
• Coordinate requirements across disciplines and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and project partners.
• Prepare fee proposals and contribute to business development opportunities.
• Mentor and support junior engineers as the team grows.
• Attend site inspections, project meetings and industry events as a company representative.
