Job summary

Macquarie Group is seeking a hands-on Lead Java Engineer for the PropertyIQ team to drive technical leadership, architecture decisions and delivery excellence across Angular, Java and Spring Boot services. You will shape API design, data layers and event-driven workflows while balancing delivery needs with long-term platform goals.

Qualifications

• Deep full-stack engineering experience across Java 17+, Spring Boot, Angular and cloud-native platforms.
• Proven experience setting technical direction and making architecture decisions across frontend, backend, APIs, integrations and data platforms.
• Strong understanding of designing scalable, resilient, observable, secure and maintainable distributed systems.
• Experience leading the technical delivery of medium-to-large initiatives from discovery and design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven architectures and API design.
• Ability to remain hands-on with code while leading engineers and driving engineering excellence across a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and delivery leadership for a PropertyIQ engineering team.
• Own the technical direction of significant components of the PropertyIQ platform and guide architectural decisions.
• Translate business goals into clear technical outcomes and manage dependencies/risks.
• Mentor engineers, unblock challenges and uplift team capability, while maintaining production readiness.
