Job summary

ABB in Brisbane seeks a seasoned Excitation Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning activities across projects of varying complexity. You will ensure efficient, safe execution aligned with contract specs and quality standards.

Reporting to the Operations Manager - BL Excitation(AMEA), you will plan activities, mentor junior engineers, manage customer relations at senior levels, and coordinate with Supply Chain to secure equipment and services.

Qualifications

• More than 5 years of experience on ABB Excitation system (UNITROL and SYNCHROTACT family) engineering and commissioning, or equivalent experience with other similar systems
• Holding certification on ABB excitation system commissioning will be given first preference
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English
• Grid code models simulation software experiences (PSSE, PSCAD & other)

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement excitation commissioning activities and develop new processes to meet customer and business needs.
• Participate in project reviews, provide technical inputs, and manage senior-level customer relations.
• Ensure approval of plant acceptance criteria, issue closure, performance tests and safety compliance.
• Lead risk and opportunity assessments, report potential risks, and conduct safety tours to mitigate hazards.
• Impart training and coach project teams toward safe working practices and share lessons learned.
• Create standard processes and cost estimates aligned with strategic priorities and contractual requirements.
• Support Project/Site Managers in issuing claims and may manage commissioning teams.
• Coordinate with external organizations to secure equipment and services with Supply Chain and Site Manager.
