Role Overview

Located in our Melbourne or Sydney office, our Engineering team is looking for a Lead Engineer to join the team on a permanent, full‑time basis. The Data and Technology team consists of Engineers, Developers, Product and Experience Designers and Delivery Leads responsible for the successful execution and delivery of our clients’ projects and our internal suite of Plus Also Studios products.

What’s my job?

As the Lead Engineer at Plus Also Studios, you’ll serve as a hands‑on technical expert, leveraging your expertise in AI and emerging technologies to support the development and enhancement of our suite of products. You will play a pivotal role in turning innovative ideas into actionable, scalable solutions while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

A Day in the Life

• Write code.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and other cross‑functional teams.
• Experiment with new technologies and new AI tools.
• Deliver a variety of AI models.
• Have an eye for and be able to work closely with designers on image and/or video generation.

How will we know you are the one?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Full‑stack Developer who can code in a variety of different languages, ideally Python and TypeScript.
• Creative technology experience in an agency or client‑facing environment.
• Experience (commercial or hobby) with Image or Video generation using either diffusion or auto‑regression technique.
• Experience with LLMs – either a closed‑source LLM such as those from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, or preferably, open‑source and locally run LLM such as DeepSeek, Qwen, etc.
• Experience with developing Tool Calling for LLM and implementing RAG frameworks.
• Strong experience working in a UNIX‑like operating system environment such as macOS / Linux is a must.
• Commercial mindset with proven business acumen experience.
