Job summary

Pell Frischmann Group Ltd. seeks a Principal Ecologist to lead project delivery in our London or Croydon offices. You will supervise surveys, data analysis and reporting, engaging stakeholders and guiding multi-disciplinary teams through planning and habitat enhancement projects.

The role includes line management, business development, and securing licenses for protected species while maintaining high standards in practice and compliance with UK ecological legislation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM at MCIEEM level.
• Significant UK consultancy experience with private and public-sector developers.
• Experience across UK habitats and protected species.
• Experience of on-site ecological supervision.
• Line management experience.
• Experience providing ecological input to competitive tenders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects from tender stage to completion.
• Maintain high standards of survey, data analysis, reporting and client liaison.
• Apply for protected species mitigation licenses and oversee their on-site implementation.
• Coordinate projects with commercial awareness and financial control to meet client needs cost-effectively.
• Collaborate with clients and statutory consultees to achieve project aims.
• Monitor and forecast utilisation of the ecology team and contribute to bids.
• Engage in business development and client liaison to win work.
• Promote the team's capabilities internally to framework managers and technical leads.
• Ensure compliance with internal management system procedures.
