Job summary

Roc Consulting is seeking a Lead Drafter specializing in HVAC and mechanical services to drive drafting for high-profile commercial projects across Victoria. You will lead and coordinate drafting activities, guide junior draftspersons and collaborate with engineers, project managers and contractors to deliver accurate, compliant drawings.

In this leadership role, you will manage workloads, review layouts and ensure alignment with Australian Standards, driving continuous improvement of drafting

Qualifications

• Senior or lead drafting experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical services.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, HVAC systems, and Australian Standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit or similar drafting software.
• Experience guiding junior draftspersons.
• Ability to identify and resolve coordination issues and clashes; strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication and liaison with engineers and project managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate drafting activities across commercial HVAC and mechanical services projects.
• Provide technical guidance & support to in-house draftspersons and contractors.
• Prepare, review and check mechanical services drawings, layouts and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with Australian Standards.
• Coordinate drafting workloads and project priorities to ensure deadlines are met.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors and consultants to ensure drafting requirements are delivered.
• Identify and resolve drafting discrepancies, coordination clashes and technical issues as they arise.
• Monitor drafting progress, deadlines and project deliverables, attending weekly coordination and technical meetings.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across drafting systems, software and processes.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Proven experience in a senior or lead drafting role within commercial HVAC or mechanical services.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design, HVAC systems and Australian Standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit or similar drafting software.
• Experience providing technical guidance and support to junior draftspersons.
• Strong ability to identify and resolve technical coordination issues and clashes.Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Strong communication skills. Comfortable liaising with engineers, contractors and project managers.
