Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Domain (Data) Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership and direction across a complex enterprise data environment.

In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining domain architecture strategies, defining target-state architecture and guiding technology decisions across multiple programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and communicate domain architecture, target-state architecture and strategic roadmaps.
• Provide architectural leadership and authoritative technical advice across enterprise programs and initiatives.
• Ensure solution designs and technology investments align with enterprise architecture, domain strategy and security requirements.
• Lead architectural analysis of complex business and technology challenges and recommend strategic solutions.
• Establish and maintain architecture principles, standards, patterns and governance frameworks.
• Review solution designs and provide architectural assurance, identifying risks, dependencies and opportunities.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, solution architects, security architects, data engineering teams and business stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice on technology investments, architectural impacts, technical dependencies, risks and priorities.
• Represent the data domain in architecture review boards and governance forums.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
• Lead the resolution of complex architectural challenges while balancing business priorities, cost, risk and technical constraints.
• Mentor and guide architects and technical specialists, building architectural capability across the organisation.

Requirements

• Minimum 8+ years of experience designing and delivering complex enterprise data initiatives and solutions, with at least 3 years in an EL2 or equivalent principal architect capacity (and/or relevant industry experience).
• Demonstrated ability to translate organisational strategy, business requirements and complex technology considerations into coherent domain architecture and strategic direction.
• Extensive experience developing and applying architecture principles, patterns, standards and governance to guide solutions across multiple programs, systems or delivery initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex architectural issues, dependencies and trade-offs and provide authoritative, evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
• Strong understanding of contemporary enterprise technology environments, data management practices, MDM, RDM, data modelling, data management and data security practices.
• Demonstrated senior stakeholder leadership and communication skills, including the ability to influence executives, architects, technical specialists and delivery teams and achieve alignment across competing priorities.
• Experience performing a Domain Architect, Enterprise Architect or equivalent senior architecture role within Australian Government or another large, complex organisation.
• Formal certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF) or advanced cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
• Extensive experience delivering major cloud transformation projects within an Australian Federal or State Government agency.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional certifications in enterprise architecture, technology, information systems or a related discipline.
