Job summary

Bluefin Resources is seeking a hands-on Lead Data Analyst to join a multidisciplinary ICT delivery team within a federal government agency.

You’ll lead data discovery and analysis, investigate quality issues and translate business needs into implementation-ready mappings, rules and data contracts. Your work will span the delivery lifecycle, from understanding source data through to validating migrations, reconciling loads and supporting production.

Qualifications

• Experience in data discovery, profiling and analysis within ICT or data delivery.
• Strong hands-on SQL skills and experience with analytical tools.
• Experience producing detailed data specifications for engineering teams.
• Experience across data lifecycle: ingestion, migration, validation, reconciliation and defect resolution.
• Ability to work independently and engage stakeholders across business and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Profile complex internal and external datasets, assessing structure, quality, relationships and fitness for purpose.
• Develop source-to-target mappings, data definitions, transformation rules and data contracts.
• Use SQL to investigate anomalies, duplicates, missing values and reconciliation issues.
• Partner with engineers, developers, architects and testers on ingestion, migration and incremental refreshes.
• Validate source and target data, reconcile record counts and key measures, and investigate load failures.
• Communicate findings, risks and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

• Extensive experience in data discovery, profiling and analysis within ICT, digital transformation or data delivery.
• Strong hands‑on SQL skills and experience with analytical tools.
• A track record of producing detailed data specifications that engineering teams can build from.
• Experience across the data lifecycle, including ingestion, migration, validation, reconciliation and defect resolution.
• Confidence working independently, solving complex data problems and engaging stakeholders across business and technical teams.

Experience with SAS Viya, Snowflake, Python, Power BI, Talend or Azure data services will be highly regarded.
