Job summary

Commonwealth Government organisation in Canberra is seeking a Lead Data Analyst (EL1 equivalent) to join a multi-disciplinary team. The role focuses on designing, building, deploying and maintaining data assets in the client’s cloud data platform, and translating business rules into data transformations.

The ideal candidate has extensive data analysis experience and advanced programming skills across SQL, SAS, R and/or Python, with strong experience in EDW environments and data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Advanced programming experience across SQL, SAS, R, and/or Python.
• Experience with an industrialised Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client, a Commonwealth Government organisation whose focus is to provide support to Australian's living with disability, require the services of Lead Data Analyst (EL1 equivalent) to join their team.

Duties of the Lead Data Analyst:

• Active participation in small, multi-disciplinary teams, in the design, build, deployment and maintenance of data assets and data products in the client's cloud data platform;
• Presentation of complex technical options, decisions and results tailored to audiences with different levels of technical and data literacy;
• Data wrangling, profiling and quality assessment of new or changed data sources and new data integrations;
• Translation of business rules and requirements into coded transformations.

Skill required:

• Extensive data analysis experience with a strong ability to prototype high quality solutions from complex disparate datasets.
• Advanced programming expertise (8+ years) across SQL, SAS, R, and/or Python;
• Experience working within an industrialised Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment and understanding of data pipelines, modelling and data and reporting platform architectures;
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to translate business discussions into data flows and process documentation while collaborating effectively in team settings.

Experience with Snowflake, or other cloud data platforms and SAS Viya platforms desired.
