Job summary

NAB is seeking an Associate Director to join the Risk Frameworks, Execution and Models Team in Australia. You will lead independent validation of IRB, IFRS9 and credit decisioning models, overseeing performance testing and data quality assessments across economic conditions.

You will collaborate with model owners, provide credible challenge, support regulatory reviews, and explore AI-based approaches to credit validation while maintaining strong written validation reports.

Qualifications

• Experience in banking/financial services, model development/validation or governance.
• Strong statistical and economic modelling skills with coding experience (Python/SAS).
• Excellent written communication with ability to document validation findings.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent validation of IRB, IFRS9 and credit decisioning models.
• Assess conceptual soundness, data quality and calibration across cycles.
• Oversee model validation across portfolio and segment levels.
• Provide credible challenge when outcomes diverge from expectations.
• Ensure validation conclusions inform capital usage and overlays.
• Collaborate with model owners to remediate findings.
• Act as line 2 technical authority on credit model validation.
• Support regulatory reviews and supervisory engagements.
