Job summary

OneStep Group is seeking a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer in Melbourne to design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure across client engagements. You will be hands-on with migrations, security configuration, automation, and cost optimisation, delivering real client value.

You will lead migration efforts, design core Azure infra, build CI/CD pipelines, implement security controls, and drive cost efficiency while collaborating with engineering and delivery teams on architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Azure infrastructure or cloud engineering experience.
• Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert).
• Proven ability to architect secure, scalable, enterprise cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of applications, data and infrastructure to Azure with minimal downtime.
• Design and manage core Azure infrastructure: networking, storage, Key Vault, identity and RBAC.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure provisioning where appropriate.
• Implement security and governance controls aligned to client requirements.
• Monitor cloud spend and provide cost-optimisation recommendations.

About the Role

We're looking for a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure across our client engagements. You'll be hands-on with cloud migrations, security configuration, automation, and cost optimisation, working on real client problems, not internal busywork.

What You'll Do

• Lead the migration of applications, data, and infrastructure to Azure, with minimal downtime and real accountability for getting it right.
• Design and manage core Azure infrastructure: networking, storage, Key Vault, identity and RBAC.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure provisioning wherever it makes sense to.
• Implement security and governance controls aligned to each client's requirements.
• Keep a close eye on cloud spend and bring cost optimisation recommendations to the table.
• Work closely with engineering and delivery teams on architecture decisions and cutovers across multiple client engagements.

What You'll Bring

• 6+ years' experience in Azure infrastructure or cloud engineering.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator Associate, Solutions Architect Expert, or DevOps Engineer Expert).
• Proven experience architecting secure, scalable, enterprise-grade cloud environments.
• Strong automation/DevOps chops, Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform) and CI/CD tooling.
• APIM environment build & integration experience
• A track record establishing best practices for security and automation
• Excellent communication skills, you'll be advising clients directly, not sitting behind emails.
