Job summary

Firmus Technologies in Australia is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Engineer to own the backend infrastructure powering the Firmus Kubernetes platform. This hands-on principal contributor will design cluster lifecycle, control-plane, networking, storage, security, observability, and automation for GPU-accelerated environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering with production Kubernetes
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes API server, etcd, scheduler, and controllers
• Experience building multi-cluster Kubernetes on bare metal/private cloud/hybrid

Responsibilities

• Define and own Kubernetes platform reference architecture for management/workloads
• Build and maintain backend services, controllers, operators, and automation to provision clusters
• Engineer bare-metal Kubernetes deployment workflows using CAC / IaaC tooling
• Design and operate cluster networking, DNS, load balancing, and service mesh
• Define storage patterns using CSI, Ceph, local NVMe, and disaster recovery
• Integrate NVIDIA GPU Operator and accelerator scheduling for AI workloads
• Establish GitOps and CI/CD patterns with safe testing and rollouts
• Security governance: RBAC, secrets, policy-as-code, image security
• Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry for reliability and capacity
• Set engineering standards and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on
