Job summary

Macquarie Group's Risk Technology team is building a new risk engineering capability and an AI-first platform for investment and operational risk. The role combines hands-on coding with technical leadership across architecture, design and delivery, in a Sydney-based team.

You will design and implement scalable systems, mentor engineers, establish engineering standards and explore AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to enhance software quality and velocity.

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with Python and related technologies.
• Hands-on coding while providing technical leadership across architecture and delivery.
• Experience designing APIs and scalable, maintainable systems.
• Cloud experience, preferably AWS, with CI/CD and security-focused practices.
• Ability to communicate complex technical decisions to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Help establish a new risk technology capability within Macquarie Asset Management.
• Contribute to the design and development of an AI-first platform for risk oversight.
• Provide technical leadership while coding, testing and implementing features.
• Establish engineering standards and mentor engineers across the team.
• Support platform evolution with automation and AI-enhanced capabilities.
