Job summary

Montgomery Advisory invites applications for a disputes lawyer to focus on construction, projects and infrastructure matters in our Sydney office. You will act for major contractors on a mix of dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration and mediation across transport, utilities, government and renewable energy sectors.

We seek 1–5 years of experience in construction disputes or a back-end disputes role, with excellent communication, analytical skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of experience in back-end construction law or as a disputes lawyer looking to specialise in construction.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and good people skills.
  • Attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and act for major contractors on dispute resolution across infrastructure, utilities, government and renewable energy projects.
  • Engage in litigation, arbitration, mediation and expert determination as part of project disputes.
  • Contribute to a growing and busy disputes team with progression opportunities.

We represent a major Australian law firm comprising lawyers across a number of Australian offices, and including a significant global network.

As an upshot of growth, the Sydney office are now looking to hire a disputes lawyer to focus on construction, projects and infrastructure matters.

Construction, Projects and Infrastructure

The Sydney Construction, Projects and Infrastructure group work on some of the most significant infrastructure, construction, engineering, mining and renewable energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region for a range of public and private participants.

As a market leading practice, you can expect to work with individuals at the top of their game.

Position Description

This is a position which will provide unparalleled opportunities for progression, mentorship and skill development in this area of law.

You will act for principally major contractors on a mix of dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration, mediation and expert determination across infrastructure (transport and social), utilities (water, power, gas and telecommunications), government (defence, rail) and renewable energy.

This is a great opportunity for a driven and talented junior to mid-level lawyer who wants to be part of a growing and busy team with genuine progression opportunities in a market-leading practice.

Requirements

You will be a lawyer with 1 to 5 years'experience,in back-end construction law or a disputes lawyer looking to specialise in construction.

In addition, you will:

  • haveexcellent communication skills, both written and verbal as well as people skills
  • have strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills
  • be wanting to be part of a highly energetic and driven team.
