Job description

Lawyer – Disputes Resolution | Adelaide | Permanent Full Time

A well-regarded firm with a collaborative, high-performing culture is looking for a Lawyer (1.5–3 PQE) to join its Adelaide disputes team.

The opportunity

This role lets you build and refine your core litigation and dispute resolution skills across a broad range of corporate and commercial disputes. You’ll work closely with senior practitioners and high-profile clients, with direct mentorship and meaningful exposure to every stage of a dispute, from pre-action correspondence and case strategy through to mediation, arbitration and court proceedings.

The team is smaller and close-knit, so you’ll get genuine autonomy and direct client contact, and more responsibility than you would at this level in a larger practice. You’ll be well supported and mentored by experienced lawyers. The firm is known for its culture, reputation and low turnover.

Key responsibilities
  • Draft pleadings, correspondence and advice to a standard suitable for review and settling by senior lawyers
  • Support matters through all stages of the dispute resolution process
  • Build an understanding of clients’ businesses and commercial drivers so your advice reflects their objectives
  • Deal confidently with clients and other advisers, providing a high level of service
  • Manage deadlines and expectations, record time accurately and understand client billing practices
  • Support junior team members, build strong relationships within the team and take part in firm and community initiatives
About you
  • Admitted to practice law in Australia
  • 1.5–3 years’ post-qualification experience in litigation or dispute resolution
  • A sound grasp of legal principles and familiarity with court practice and procedure
  • A clear, concise communicator who explains legal issues in plain English
  • Detail-oriented, with accurate, error-free written work
  • Reliable, responsive and proactive: you take ownership and act with urgency to meet deadlines
  • Goals and solutions focused, with a commercial mindset
