Qualifications

• Experience within Abuse Law preferred, although experience in Personal injury law will also be considered.
• Keen interest to specialise in this area of law.
• Strong legal, commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong client and relationship building skills.
• Strong client service focus and a passion for helping people.

Responsibilities

• Support a diverse and meaningful caseload of Abuse Law matters.
• Report to the Special Counsel in the Abuse Law team and strive for fair outcomes for clients.

About the role and team

We are looking for a Lawyer to join our dedicated Abuse Law team on a full-time, permanent basis. Located in our Sydney office, you’ll play a key role in supporting a diverse and meaningful caseload of Abuse Law matters.

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Due to the nature of the practice, there will at times be exposure to challenging material, consequently all staff in the practice are supported through access to external psychological support, as well as market leading and award winning internal vicarious trauma training.

Reporting to the Special Counsel in the Abuse Law team, you will be constantly challenged by using your technical knowledge and experience in personal injuries litigation to strive for fair outcomes for our clients. With your strong client focus and passion for helping people you will foster and manage relationships with referrers and other external parties while also looking to grow our incredible practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to manage conflicting business needs and deadlines will enable you to thrive in this role.
