About the role

Clyde & Co are seeking a general insurance litigation lawyer ideally with 3 plus years' post qualification experience.

Offering a variety of complex and interesting work, you will be exposed to a range of contentious insurance matters including in general insurance, life insurance, professional indemnity, financial lines, directors' and officers' coverage and defence work, medical indemnity, personal injury, public and products liability, regulatory and indemnity advice. The client base includes a mix of all major Australian insurers, international insurance, as well as underwriters and reinsurers.

Leading specialists in their field, Partners Darryl Smith and Ross Donaldson foster a culture which is collegiate and positive, and you will be exposed to an excellent depth of mentoring together with career development opportunities within the wider team.

We are open to hearing from people with extensive insurance litigation backgrounds, ideally in general liability, and general insurance.

Candidate profile
  • Suitable candidates will be Australian or dual qualified, with relevant litigation experience gained in an international, or local law firm.
  • 3+ years PQE, ideally in general insurance / insurance litigation experience;
  • Highly regarded will be experience across the defence of directors' and officers' liability and professional indemnity insurance claims, defending claims involving large construction projects, product and public liability claims, multi-party litigation, class actions;
  • Prior experience working on litigation matters and defending claims in all courts and tribunals in Australia, and a commitment to technical excellence;
  • Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
