Job summary

Woolworths Group is seeking a lawyer for a 12-month fixed-term role to support a diversified portfolio including BIG W, PFD Food Services, and Petstock.

You will provide strategic legal advice on retail operations, consumer law and eCommerce, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and partner with cross-functional teams to influence key business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day strategic and practical legal advice on retail operations, regulatory matters, consumer law, and eCommerce platforms.
• Draft, review, and negotiate diverse commercial agreements including trade, distribution, technology, IP and vendor partnerships.
• Drive strategic growth initiatives and support cross-functional teams across the Woolworths Group network.

In this dynamic role, you will act as a key legal partner across retail operations, B2B food distribution, specialty pet care, and rapidly scaling eCommerce platforms. Harness your commercial acumen to deliver practical solutions, shape major strategic projects, and directly influence key business outcomes across the Woolworths Group network.Provide day-to-day strategic and practical legal advice on retail operations, regulatory matters, consumer law, and eCommerce platforms.Draft, review, and negotiate diverse commercial agreements, including trade, distribution, technology, IP, and vendor partnerships.Drive key strategic growth, transformation projects, and legal initiatives across BIG W, PFD, and Petstock.Shape major brand and marketing initiatives, including core trading events, BIG W rebranding, and price trust strategies.Partner with cross-functional teams like commercial, marketing, digital, and QA to respond to evolving regulatory changes.Collaborate with the broader Legal Services function on Group-wide matters and specialist legal support.What you'll bring:Strong experience in commercial contracting and consumer law within dynamic, fast-paced environments.A growth mindset with deep curiosity and a passion for understanding diverse business models.Knowledge of, or a strong desire to learn, key retail frameworks such as the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code and Grocery Code.Exceptional commercial acumen and an ability to translate complex legal risks into practical solutions.Excellent prioritisation skills, adaptable to shifting business priorities and fast-moving projects.Proven ability to work autonomously, collaborate effectively, and build strong stakeholder relationships.What you’ll experienceA global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business networkAccess to Sonder.
