Terras Landscape Architects in Newcastle, NSW invites applications for Landscape Architects at both junior and senior levels. Join a dynamic team delivering outdoor spaces across public, residential, commercial, and master-planned developments.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years (junior) or 5–10 years (senior) of experience, with strong CAD skills and proficiency in Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Collaboration and sustainable design are core to our practice.

Qualifications

• A degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent recognised by the local industry.
• Proficiency in landscape design software and digital drafting tools.
• Current or eligible registration with Landscape Architects Australia or active professional development.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed landscape design concepts and master plans for a variety of project types and scales.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications and documentation using CAD software.
• Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies and environmental assessments to inform design decisions.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, engineers and contractors to understand project requirements and deliver solutions.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and deliverables to ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope.
• Present design concepts and proposals to clients and project teams, communicating design intent.
• Oversee site inspections and supervision during construction to ensure designs are implemented to specification.
• Stay current with landscape architecture trends and sustainability practices.

TERRAS are seeking talented and creative Landscape Architects.

This opportunity of for both junior and senior experienced Landscape Architects to join our dynamic team at Terras Landscape Architects. Prefer a minimum of 2-3 years for junior position and 5-10m years for senior position.

These are full-time positions based in Newcastle, NSW. We have availability for both junior and senior positions. As a Landscape Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering innovative outdoor spaces that enhance communities and environments.

You will contribute to the strategic vision of our practice by creating compelling landscape designs that balance aesthetic excellence with environmental sustainability and functional requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects ranging from public spaces and residential developments to commercial precincts and master-planned communities.

What you’ll be doing

• Enjoying a great team environment and being part of the coastal lifestyle and growing regional area.
• Developing detailed landscape design concepts and master plans for a variety of project types and scales
• Preparing technical drawings, specifications and documentation using industry-standard design software and CAD applications. ( subject to junior or senior position )
• Conducting site analysis, feasibility studies and environmental assessments to inform design decisions
• Liaising with clients, stakeholders, engineers and contractors to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet expectations ( subject to junior or senior position )
• Managing project timelines, budgets and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope
• Presenting design concepts and proposals to clients and project teams, communicating design intent and justifying design recommendations
• Undertaking site inspections and supervision during construction phases to ensure designs are implemented to specification
• Staying current with landscape architecture trends, sustainability practices and emerging design methodologies
• Collaborating with team members on multidisciplinary projects and contributing to the continuous improvement of practice standards

What we’re looking for

• A degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent professional qualification recognised by the Australian landscape architecture industry
• Current or eligible registration with Landscape Architects Australia or demonstrated commitment to professional development
• 3+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture practice, including design and project delivery
• Proficiency in landscape design software such as Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite or similar industry-standard tools. Vectorworks skills are essential.
• Strong knowledge of landscape design principles, environmental sustainability, and relevant planning and heritage legislation
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly to diverse audiences
• Demonstrated project management capabilities with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously [ senior position ].
• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Understanding of construction practices, material specifications and project budgeting
• Preferred experience with BIM technology, GIS applications, landscape visualisation techniques or experience in master planning and large-scale developments
