YMCA Mango Hill Community Centre is recruiting 8 full-time Land Care Assistants to join our team. The role focuses on conserving landscapes, caring for local flora and fauna, and maintaining outdoor spaces across Mango Hill and Joyner locations.

Applicants should have a passion for conservation, access to transport between sites, and be eligible to work in Australia. First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain, plus safeguarding training, are required.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
• First Aid and CPR Certificate; or willingness to obtain.
• Safeguarding Children training and annual refresher.
• Access to public transport or own vehicle.

Responsabilités

• Select and use relevant PPE for land care tasks.
• Maintain hedges, lawns, gardens and natural environments through weeding, mowing, watering and related activities.
• Undertake employability training such as mentoring and site visits.
• Report on conservation progress including basic report writing and photo collation.
• Assist with basic gardening, planning, design, construction and repairs as required.
• Prepare and process debris and waste materials.

Land Care Assistant | YMCA Mango Hill Community Centre

YMCA Mango Hill Community Centre is recruiting 8 dedicated Land Care Assistants to join our team in a Full-Time Fixed-Term position

About the role

As a Land Care Assistant is focused on providing conservation and land care services to the YMCA and key community stakeholders of the YMCA. This includes caring for, nurturing and maintaining landscapes within the community and understanding the local flora and fauna, and methods to conserve and protect the local environment.

Work locations:

• Monday to Thursday: Camp Warrawee, Joyner
• Friday: Mango Hill Community Centre, Mango Hill

Applicants are encouraged to have access to their own reliable transport, as travel between both work locations is required

Based across our Mango Hill and Camp Warrawee sites in Joyner, this role offers an opportunity to contribute to the care and maintenance of our outdoor spaces and community environments

What will my time look like?

• Select and use relevant personal protective equipment appropriate for various land care task types
• Maintaining hedges, lawns, gardens and natural environments through weeding, hedging, mowing, watering and other basic conservation and horticultural activities
• Undertake employability training such as mentoring, coaching, and industry site visits
• Reporting on conservation and program progress which may include basic report writing, photograph collation and printing
• Basic gardening, planning, design, construction and/or repair as required
• Prepare and process debris and waste materials

Am I a good match?

• Have a passion for conservation, ecosystem management and be able to work outdoors
• Have access to public transport and/or own vehicle.
• First Aid and CPR Certificate; or willingness to obtain
• Must be eligible to work in Australia
• Achievement of YMCA's Safeguarding Children Training Certificate and complete annual refresher training.
