Job summary

ALS Environmental based in Yatala is seeking a casual Laboratory Technician to support soil preparation for asbestos analysis, receiving, preparing, processing and maintaining soil samples in line with lab procedures and safety standards.

The successful candidate will show meticulous attention to detail, be able to follow documented procedures, communicate clearly, organize tasks, work independently or as part of a team, and adapt to variable hours according to business needs.

About the Role:

ALS Environmental are seeking a Laboratory Technician for a casual opportunity based in Yatala.

Working within Soil Prep, the role supports laboratory operations by ensuring samples are prepared accurately, efficiently, and within agreed turnaround times. You will be responsible for receiving, preparing, processing, and maintaining soil samples for asbestos analysis in accordance with laboratory procedures, quality requirements, and health and safety standards.

This is a casual position and does not have set or guaranteed hours, and we are seeking applicants who can offer flexibility and availability based on business needs.

The Day to Day:

The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:

• Prepare soil samples in accordance with approved procedures.
• Maintain sample traceability throughout the preparation process.
• Prevent cross-contamination between samples using approved cleaning procedures.
• Organise and store samples according to laboratory retention requirements.
• Assist with sample disposal following approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
