Job summary

ALS Environmental in Kirwan, Townsville is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician in the chemistry department. The role offers on-the-job training across a range of analytical processes and quality procedures in a modern laboratory setting.

You will prepare and analyze environmental samples, ensuring procedures align with quality instructions, and contribute to efficient daily workflows while highlighting any anomalies observed.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in science with either University or TAFE qualifications.
• High level of attention to detail, good communication and organisational skills.
• Understanding of good laboratory practices.
• A high level of computer literacy.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Great time management.
• A demonstrated interest or personal hobby in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, excel macros, scripting or 3D printing.
• Coding or programming capability.
• Exposure to or interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation.

About The Position

ALS Environmental is seeking to employ a full-time Laboratory Technician in the chemistry department at our laboratory based in Kirwan, Townsville.

The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training in a wide variety of technical processes, techniques and quality procedures associated with working within a modern analytical laboratory.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Preparation and analysis of environmental samples
• Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
