Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our NATA Accredited Geotechnical Laboratory in Brendale. You will join a dedicated team supporting construction materials, mining and infrastructure sectors, reporting to the Laboratory Manager.

The role involves sample prep, materials testing, and field sampling with opportunities for technical growth across regional projects. A Certificate III in Laboratory Operations and 3+ years’ lab experience are preferred, along with a valid manual

Qualifications

• Certificate III or higher in Laboratory Operations.
• 3+ years of lab-based experience.
• Knowledge of Australian and Main Roads Test Methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Current unrestricted manual driving license.
• Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking sample preparation to nominated test methods.
• Undertaking materials testing with supervision.
• Sampling and collection of soils, aggregate and other construction material samples for preparation and analysis.
• Assisting in day-to-day laboratory functions.
• Carrying out other duties as required to meet business needs.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician within our NATA Accredited Geotechnical Laboratory in Brendale. With over 40 years combined experience in our Lab, we're looking for a like‑minded individual who enjoys working with an enthusiastic, committed, and fun‑loving team, and is interested in a rewarding career.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will be working very closely with a passionate and dedicate team within our Brendale office providing services to the essential construction materials, mining and infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders across the region and provide you with the support on your technical growth within the wider SLR team. With a passion for earth sciences, you will work with likeminded individuals, whilst enjoying excellent career opportunities across a range of industry sectors. Your day to day could include:

• Undertaking sample preparation to nominated test methods
• Undertaking materials testing with some supervision
• Sampling and collection of soils, aggregate and other construction material samples for preparation and analysis
• Assisting in the day‑to‑day functions of the laboratory
• Carrying out other duties as may be required from time to time to meet the changing business needs of the organisation and/or as instructed by the business

Experience

Along with a great attitude and a want to be part of a friendly team, the ideal candidate will have:

• Relevant qualifications in Laboratory Operations (Certificate III and above)
• 3 years + professional experience in a lab‑based role.
• Knowledge in Australian and Main Roads Test Methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent interpersonal skills, self‑motivation and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Excellent driving history and hold a current unrestricted manual driver's license.
• Australia Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
