Job summary

Griffith University on the Gold Coast invites applications for a Scientific Officer Laboratory and Preclinical Experience to provide hands-on technical support for practical teaching across the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Paramedicine and the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences.

You will prepare, set up and maintain laboratory spaces, manage equipment and consumables, develop SOPs and risk assessments, and collaborate with academic staff to deliver safe, high-quality learning

Qualifications

• Hold a health or science-based degree or equivalent in a similar technical environment.
• Experience supporting clinical, preclinical, simulation or laboratory teaching activities.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing demands.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with academic staff and technical teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality, safe learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and maintain laboratory spaces across facilities for practical teaching sessions.
• Collaborate with technical and academic staff and course convenors to deliver best-practice teaching activities.
• Manage equipment and consumables, including stocktakes, procurement, maintenance and calibration to industry standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as lab resource statements, risk assessments and SOPs.
• Provide technical instruction and support, contributing to events and continuous improvement initiatives.
