Job Description

We are seeking a Casual Laboratory Assistant to join our Shepparton environmental lab. The role will support field sampling activities, ensure testing and sample receipt are completed accurately, and deliver results on time in line with SGS EHS service and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field sampling to meet client requirements.
  • Perform analyses according to SGS methods and procedures.
  • Support the Sample Reception & Chemistry team.
  • Carry out QC checks, instrument calibrations, and take appropriate action.
  • Record all data in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Represent SGS on‑site and during client visits.
  • Provide sample pick‑up and drop‑off services for key clients.
  • Prepare sample bottles and assist with sample receipt at the Shepparton site.
  • Ensure analysis and data are completed by due dates, working collaboratively with the Shepparton team.
  • Perform risk assessments and internal audits as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous laboratory experience (desirable).
  • Knowledge of measurement and testing techniques related to environmental field sampling.
  • Ability to understand technical issues and provide feedback.
  • Basic report writing skills.
  • Valid Victorian full driver’s licence.
