Job summary

Amana Living is seeking a Kitchenhand at Frederick Guest Hostel in Bull Creek, Southern Suburbs, WA. This permanent part-time role focuses on preparing meals, keeping the kitchen clean, and delivering care and warmth to residents through food.

Shifts run 15:30–19:00 on Week 1 and Week 2, totaling 31.5 hours per fortnight. Applicants must commit to all shifts and complete pre-employment checks, including vaccination requirements and police clearance where applicable.

Qualifications

• Evidence of Current Flu vaccination per Amana Living policies.
• Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity).
• NDIS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and plate food, serve and clear away meals in line with schedules.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and ensure state food safety standards.
• Interact with residents in line with organisational values and personal choices.
• Monitor stock levels and replenish items as needed.
• Record temperatures and cleaning logs weekly for manager review.
• Assist with menu adaptations and dietary changes as required.

The Position

Based at Frederick Guest Hostel in Bull Creek, your role as a Kitchenhand is more than just preparing meals, it’s about bringing warmth and care to our residents through food. By keeping the kitchen organised and supporting meal preparation, you’ll help create moments of comfort and joy that truly makes it feel like home. This is a permanent part-time role offering 31.5 hours per fortnight.

Week 1:

Monday: 15:30-19:00

Thursday: 15:30-19:00

Saturday: 15:30-19:00

Week 2:

Monday: 15:30-19:00

Tuesday: 15:30-19:00

Saturday: 15:30-19:00

Sunday: 15:30-19:00

Please note, you must be able to commit to all days/shifts to be considered

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and plate food, serve and clear away meals in line with food preparation schedules.
• Maintain the food preparation and serving areas to state hygiene standards.
• Maintain appropriate resident interactions in line with the organizational values.
• Consider resident lifestyles and personal choice.
• Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with others.
• Collect all temperature and cleaning records for the week and place in managers basket for checking and signing.
• Record any dietary changes on master print out.
• Check on stock requirements, e.g. bread, milk, OJ, yoghurt and change as necessary.
• As required replenish shopping supplies which are specific and not currently available from usual supplier.
• Evidence of Current Flu vaccination per Amana Living policies
• Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical and reference checks
• NDIS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
• Proven organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, as required
• Willingness to attend 2 day paid induction at our Rivervale Training Institute
