Job summary

Mother Duck Child Care Lawnton is seeking a friendly Kitchen Hand to join our team. This part-time role supports the Chef in delivering fresh, nutritious meals for children and families in our care. You will help with meal preparation, maintain cleanliness, manage stock, and ensure food safety guidelines are followed.

About the role

We are seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our team at Mother Duck Child Care Lawnton in Lawnton, QLD. This part-time role will see you play a key part in supporting our amazing Chef in the smooth running of our kitchen, providing fresh and healthy meals to the children in our care.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and cooking a variety of nutritious meals and snacks for the children
• Ensuring the kitchen and food preparation areas are kept clean and hygienic at all times
• Assisting with the ordering and stock management of kitchen supplies
• Working closely with the Chef to implement the menu and follow all food safety guidelines
• Providing a high level of customer service to the children and their families

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Hand or similar role in a kitchen environment
• Practical cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation and presentation
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
• Good communication and customer service skills
• A passion for providing high-quality, nutritious meals
• Current and State-relevant Working with Children's Check
• Current Child Protection and National Child Safety Training Certificates
• Availability to work 20-25 hours per week
• The willingness to step up into the Chef's role when they are absent from the Centre from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
