Job summary

MiCare Ltd is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Manager Food Services in maintaining hygiene standards, efficient kitchen operations, and optimal use of resources within our aged care catering environments across Victoria.

You will help uphold a high standard of cleanliness and assist with the effective delivery of meals and services, ensuring compliance with Food Safety practices and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 1 certified or willing to obtain.
• Experience in aged care or healthcare catering.
• Experience in commercial kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining hygiene standards in the kitchen.

The Role

The Kitchen Assistant will assist the Manager Food Services to maintain an agreed
standard of hygiene, with optimal use of resources.

The position will assist the Manager Food Services in maintaining an agreed standard of
hygiene, with optimal use of resources. The role will also assist with the effective and
efficient overall operations of the kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant will maintain a high
standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen. The position will take part in the
Accreditation, Work Health & Safety and Infection Control programs within the kitchen with a focus on customer needs

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

Food Safety Level 1 (or willingness to obtain).

Experience working in aged care or healthcare catering environments.

Experience

Previous experience in a commercial or production kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.

Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Good time management and attention to detail.

Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift light to moderate loads.

Understanding of the importance of hygiene, particularly when catering to aged care facilities.

Essential skills

The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner within an ethno-specific environment.

A preparedness to work to the 10 principles of the Eden Alternative philosophy.

Self-motivated with a flexible, caring and patient attitude.
