The Star Brisbane is seeking a passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our fast-paced kitchen in Brisbane. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you will support service, lead by example, and mentor junior staff while upholding the highest standards of food quality and safety.

In a high-volume environment, you will develop leadership experience, contribute to menu execution, and be rewarded with competitive hourly rates, shift penalties, and career growth opportunities within The Star's premium hospitality

Reporting to the Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in leading kitchen operations, supporting your team through service, and delivering exceptional food quality in a fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced culinary professional looking to take the next step in their leadership career.

A few of your responsibilities

• Support the Sous Chef in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
• Lead by example to deliver exceptional food quality, consistency and presentation
• Train, mentor and develop Commis Chefs, Demi Chefs, Cooks and Apprentices
• Ensure preparation and service standards are maintained across all sections
• Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
• Contribute to menu execution and operational excellence during service

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen environment
• Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
• Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance requirements
• Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
• Ability to perform confidently under pressure while maintaining exceptional standards
