Job summary

Shred-X is seeking a curious Junior Software Engineer with a passion for AI, data analytics, and automation to build practical business solutions that improve reporting, decision-making and operational efficiency. You will be embedded with the Software Engineering team on AI workflows, data analysis, automation and business intelligence.

You will work on AI prompts, data transformations, automated processes and AI-powered reporting, collaborating with Compliance and business teams to deliver

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of relevant industry experience; or Master’s student in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Genuine interest in AI, automation and data.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
• Good documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve AI prompts and workflows.
• Transform Excel, CSV and other business data into reports, dashboards and summaries.
• Help automate repetitive business and compliance processes.
• Build AI tools to help managers understand business performance.
• Assist in developing AI agents monitoring areas such as Safety, Operations, Finance, Customer Experience, Driver Performance.
• Identify data quality issues in reporting systems.
• Use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) with SQL, Power BI, DAX, Python, and docs.
• Test AI outputs for accuracy and reliability.
• Document processes for easy staff reuse.
• Collaborate with Compliance and business teams.
• Contribute to projects like forecasting, AI-powered reporting, and business automation.

We are looking for a curious and motivated Junior Software Engineer with an interest in AI, data analytics and automation to help develop practical business solutions that improve reporting, decision-making and operational efficiency.

Embedded with the Software Engineering team, this is a hands-on role focused on AI workflows, data analysis, automation and business intelligence. It is not a social media or content-writing role.

What you'll do

• Develop and improve AI prompts and workflows.
• Transform Excel, CSV and other business data into useful reports, dashboards and summaries.
• Help automate repetitive business and compliance processes.
• Build AI tools that help managers understand business performances.
• Assist in the development of AI agents that monitor areas such as:
  • Safety and Compliance
  • Operations
  • Finance
  • Customer Experience
  • Driver Performance
• Help identify data quality issues and problems within reporting systems.
• Use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to assist with SQL, Power BI, DAX, Python and documentation.
• Test AI outputs to ensure they are accurate, reliable and fit for purpose.
• Document processes so they can be easily used by other staff.
• Work closely with Compliance and business teams.
• Contribute to projects involving:
  • Vehicle maintenance forecasting and asset optimisation analytics
  • AI-powered executive reporting
  • AI-assisted decision support
  • Business process automation

What we're looking for

Applicants should meet one of the following criteria:

• 1-2 years of relevant industry experience; or
• Master's student in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

In addition, you should have:

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• A genuine interest in AI, automation and data.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
• Good documentation and communication skills.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

• Python
• SQL
• Power BI and DAX
• Microsoft Fabric
• PySpark
• Git and version control
• REST APIs

You don't need experience with all these technologies. We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical and willing to learn.

Your Initial Projects

We will initially focus on projects that can deliver quick business value, including:

• AI-powered executive Q&A
• Automated reporting and commentary

These projects may later expand into predictive analytics, AI agents and more advanced automation solutions.
